Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson officially declares for 2022 NFL Draft

Arguably the worst-kept secret in college football was confirmed Wednesday.

Michigan Wolverines superstar pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson took to Twitter to announce he's declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hutchinson's news came less than a week after Michigan fell to the Georgia Bulldogs 34-11 in the College Football Playoff semifinal and one day after teammate and junior linebacker David Ojabo declared for the draft.

As noted by MMQB's Albert Breer, Hutchinson has one year of college eligibility remaining but also won't be waiting long to hear his name called on the draft's opening night. According to Von Lozon of Maize N Brew, Hutchinson ended his last college regular season a consensus All-American who tallied 13 sacks, 54 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups.

He finished second in voting for the Heisman Trophy.

Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus and Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports are among those who have recently predicted Hutchinson will be the first pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, ESPN NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. named Hutchinson the top player on his overall board last month.
