Golf best bets: 3 props for the PGA Championship

As the start of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club approaches, we still have time to add some props to our betting card. Let's check out our three favorite prop bets for the second major championship of the year.

Taylor Pendrith top-30 finish (+290 FanDuel)

Taylor Pendrith went through a cold streak in which he missed the cut five times in six starts earlier this season, but he's found something over the last month. After that stretch, Pendrith finished T11 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, T11 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Corey Conners, won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and T10 at the Wells Fargo Championship. He's playing with a ton of confidence right now, and he has the right skill set for Valhalla.

Pendrith ranks ninth on the PGA Tour this season in driving distance, which will be crucial this week on a long, soggy golf course. He also ranks sixth in strokes gained from putting. The 32-year-old isn't a good wedge player, but that won't matter much at Valhalla with so many long-iron approach shots on the course. Pendrith finished T29 at the PGA Championship last year, and he wasn't playing nearly as well as he is right now.

Byeong Hun An top-20 finish (+190 FD)

Byeong Hun An is going to be a popular play this week, but we're jumping on the chalk anyway. The South Korean makes too much sense for this golf course and is playing too well to ignore.

As for his recent form, An is coming off back-to-back top-five finishes at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and the Wells Fargo Championship. He's also gained strokes on approach and off the tee in five straight starts. An can struggle with his putter, but he led the field in putting last week at Quail Hollow, a similar golf course to Valhalla.

The kicker, though, is his driving distance. An ranks fourth on Tour in driving distance and fourth in carry distance, which will give him a huge advantage this week if tee shots aren't rolling out in the rain. He's also a great long-iron player, so he'll feel comfortable on these long par 3s and par 4s.

Will Zalatoris top-10 finish (+600 DraftKings)

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Just last month, Will Zalatoris shot a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Masters to finish in a tie for ninth place. He then finished T44 at the RBC Heritage, missed the cut alongside Sahith Theegala at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and finished T60 at the Wells Fargo Championship. Now he's 80-1 to win the PGA Championship and +600 to top 10? Fine, we'll bite.

Zalatoris is a major championship killer. He has seven top-10 finishes in 11 career major starts. In two PGA Championship appearances, he finished T8 in 2021 and runner-up in 2022 after losing to Justin Thomas in a playoff. Zalatoris plays his best golf on long golf courses that emphasize total driving and long-iron play, and that's exactly the challenge Valhalla presents. This price is too good to pass up on a consistent major performer.
