The hometown Seattle Mariners will be represented well at the upcoming MLB Futures Game during All-Star week.

Mariners prospect Jonatan Clase has been selected as part of the first six participants for the Futures Game, which showcases some of the top young prospects in the sport.

Also confirmed are Marcelo Mayer (Red Sox), Owen White (Rangers), Justin Crawford (Phillies), Kyle Harrison (Giants) and Endy Rodriguez (Pirates).

Clase is currently the No. 11 prospect in the organization but he's gaining major awareness in prospect circles after a big start to the year this year. The 21-year-old outfielder is currently in Double-A.

He's hit .246 this offseason across two levels while popping 16 homers and driving in 46. Armed with elite speed, he also has 42 stolen bases already this year.

Here's more on Clase from his MLB.com prospect profile:

Clase is probably still the fastest runner in Seattle’s system, a perch that Felnin Celesten may soon challenge -- but not for now. Clase swiped a whopping 55 bags in 107 games in 2022, all for Single-A Modesto. The Mariners knew Clase had wheels when they signed him in 2018, but they weren’t as cognizant of his burgeoning power potential, which he flexed with 13 homers and a .463 slugging percentage last year.

Part of the extra-base uptick is rooted in Clase’s conditioning. Despite standing at just 5-foot-8, he’s as strong as any prospect in the system. The term “gym rat” gets thrown around a lot, but Clase truly embodies it, which is why it’s not surprising that he’s developed such premier bat speed. One downside to his development has been nagging injuries through the years, though he played a mostly full season in ‘22. It likely prevented him from climbing quicker, but after a solid season, climbing the ladder rapidly is not out of the realm.

The Futures Game will be played on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Park.
