Oilers making key change for elimination Game 6

The Edmonton Oilers are going back to their No. 1 goaltender for Game 6 against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at Rogers Place.

Per NHL.com, Stuart Skinner will return to the net after backup Calvin Pickard started Games 4 and 5.

The Oilers are facing elimination, trailing the series 3-2. The winner will go on to face the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final.

Coach Kris Knoblauch replaced Skinner with Pickard to start the third period in Game 3, after Skinner allowed four goals on 15 shots. To that point in the series, he had given up 12 goals on 58 shots for a .793 save percentage and 4.40 goals-against average.

"I'm excited to get back in the net," Skinner said earlier on Saturday. "I'm excited to get to do my job again."

Pickard, a career backup and third goalie, made 19 saves in Edmonton's 3-2 victory in Game 4, his first Stanley Cup Playoff start. Pickard then gave up three goals on 35 shots in Game 5, including the winning goal with 32.6 seconds left in regulation time in the 3-2 loss.

Skinner was effective in the Oilers' first-round, five-game game series win over the Los Angeles Kings with a 4-1 record, 2.59 GAA, .910 save percentage and a shutout.
