Chelsea are making waves in the race to sign Victor Osimhen, who’s widely expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season. PSG have most insistently linked to him, but their offer might come shy of his release clause.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Blues have been in touch with the Partenopei as of late. They are willing to tender €80/90M plus Romelu Lukaku and a youngster. New director Giovanni Manna is a fan of the Belgian marksman and tried to arrange a swap with Dusan Vlahovic last summer.

Chelsea and Napoli would have to assess the intentions of Osimhen and Lukaku if things got past the preliminary stages. The latter reportedly wants to stay at Roma past his loan spell, but he might be too expensive for them.

Instead, the Nigerian striker often hinted he’d like to play in England, but it remains to be seen whether he’d accept the Blues, which won’t participate in the Champions League next season.

Our Take on Chelsea and Osimhen

Unless they hire Antonio Conte and he stomps on the table to get him, the Azzurri probably wouldn’t be interested in Lukaku due to his age and wages. Conversely, if the boss returned to London, the big Belgian would probably stay put.

Still, the Blues have a few players that could interest the counterparty, which will need several reinforcements. It remains to be seen whether they’d accept partial swaps, though, which are fairly rare in general to begin with.
